The Supermercados are an alternative rock band from Devon, UK and comprise; Henry '2 For 1' Supermercado (guitar & vocals), Tom 'Discount Aisle' Supermercado (guitar & keys), '2nd Hand Dave' Supermercado (Bass) & Matt 'Deli Counter' Supermercado (drums).
Their 2nd single "Lights" will be released at the end of February 2021 and they have been compared to the sound of Pavement, Can, Maximo Park, Motorhead, Bob Dylan and the Smashing Pumpkins jamming at a house party.
"Stunning, absolutely wonderful...an absolute revelation, I don't think you can get much better than that, listen out for that, absolutely stunning!" Gordon Reid, Phonic FM
"It's a great song they've sent in called Lights. They come from Ottery St Mary, they take part in the running with barrells, they're pretty hard over there" Riviera FM
Lyrically, The Supermerados are trying to understand what it means to be part of a world that is diluted to the point that beautiful freedom and creativity are algorithms. How scantily-clad songs and the leaders of the world are hand-in-glove, spoon-feeding oppression and ignoring the majority.
Their debut single has been supported by multiple plays on Exeter’s Phonic FM. Once the UK comes out of lockdown, they will be showcasing their explosive live show with a UK mini tour.
