Nelder Welder Art, By Simon Bealey
From the "30 Years a Secret" Collection
Simon "Nelder Welder" Bealey is an Exeter-based industrial sculptor.
30 years a secret, he has created the breath-taking collection we bring you below.
This portfolio includes gorgeous artistic statements inspired by upcycling and 30 years spent working in construction. Using a welding torch as a paintbrush and mixed media of upcycled metal, timber & drift wood as his paint, he merges and repurposes these materials into thought-provoking pieces of industrial art.
Simon's work is complex and methodical. He creates numerous small, hand-fashioned pieces of metal and fuses them together with driftwood and recycled furniture to create stunning creatures & interior feature pieces. Each unique item has a strong personality with textures that mimic large swathes of skin, fur & feathers.
This collection is a statement on how we throw away things that can be repurposed. Simon believes that a skip can be a treasure trove and materials that can be found for free all around us can be used in artistic applications and to reduce landfill waste.
